Tromsø Training Session

The Tromsø CASE training sessions consists of two parts:
- the ResClim course GEO8145 "Polar Marine Sedimentary Environments" at Department of Geology, Tromsø July 7 - 13
- the AMGG teaching cruise GEO8144 "Past and present polar marine-geological processes and climate: from fjords to the deep sea" which begins in Longyearbyen Svalbard July 15 and ends in Tromsø July 28.

Both training sessions will be organized by Katrine Husum together with two colleagues from the University of Tromsø: Jan Sverre Laberg and Matthias Forwick.

 

The course GEO8145 "Polar Marine Sedimentary Environments" is organized together with the Norwegian Research School in Climate Research. The course is described in detail on this website: ResClim Website.

 

The teaching cruise "Past and present polar marine-geological processes and climate: from fjords to the deep sea" is part of the local research school in Arctic marine geology and geophysics. The study area is West Svalbard margin, Fram Strait and East Greenland margin. Onboard the R/V "Jan Mayen", the plans and objectives of the cruise will be present.

In a recent issue of Boreas, CASE ESR Maciej Telesinski and colleagues from GEOMAR Kiel and University of Stockolm recently presented late Glacial and Holocene paleoenvironmental recontructions in the central Greenland Sea.
